Grant Turner
Founding Artistic Director
Since the company's inception in 1998, he has been involved in one way or another (be it as an actor, director, designer or understudy) in all but a handful of NWCTC shows. Past favorite roles include: Parolles in All's Well That Ends Well, Marc Antony in Julius Caesar, and Oswald in Ghosts.
Grant would like to thank his lovely wife, Nicole, for all her support.
Tom Walton
Actor
Tom's the type of guy that likes to roam around, he's never in one place, he roams from town to town. And when he finds himself fallin' for some girl, he hops right into that car of his and drives around the world. 'Cause he's thee wanderer, yeah the wanderer, he roams around around around around around. (I love you Grant, and you Rhianna, but most of all, you scarecrow!)
Joe Healy
Actor
A proud graduate of the Portland Actors Conservatory in 2000, Joe first appeared with NWCTC as Angelo in Measure for Measure. His favorite roles include Titus in Titus Andronicus, Judge Brack in Hedda Gabler, Flute and Snout in A Midsummer Night's Dream, and Antonio in Twelfth Night. Joe has worked with Profile, Coho, Triangle Productions, Stark Raving, NW Children's Theatre, Vertigo, PAC, and Lakewood, among others. He has also appeared in several television commercials, infomercials, internet ads and voiceovers including an episode of TNT's Leverage.
Kenichi Hillis
Prop Master
An actor and props designer, Kenichi has appeared onstage with the NWCTC in Henry V, Titus Andronicus, and Hedda Gabler, among others. He has since gone into semi-retirement from performing and officially assumed the role of NWCTC's Properties Master, designing props for every mainstage production since The Merchant of Venice. For his work as props designer, he received a PATA Spotlight Award in 2010. He lives with the love of his life Sarah, their son Russell, and holds a BA in Theatre Arts from Humboldt State University.
Butch Flowers
Actor
Butch first came to the Northwest Classical Theatre Company to play Peter Simple in The Merry Wives of Winsor in 2004. He has been acting, directing, designing posters and buildings sets ever since.
Jayson Shanafelt
Actor/Webmaster
Jayson has appeared with NWCTC as Hamlet, Mercutio in Romeo and Juliet, Gratiano in The Merchant of Venice, Pistol in Henry IV Part II, Lucio in Measure for Measure, York in Henry VI, Sherlock Holmes in The Musgrave Ritual, Auguecheek in Tweltfh Night, and Flute/Thisby in A Midsummer Night's Dream.
Jayson is also core company member of Clackamas Repertory Theatre.
Rhianna Walton
Actor/House Manager
Rhianna Walton has a BA in Literature and Theatre from Reed College and MA degrees in Modern Jewish Studies and English Literature. She spends most of her time behind the scenes as the NWCTC dramaturg, but occassionally appears on stage. Outside of the theatre, Rhianna teaches English at the Art Institute of Portland and sells books at Powell's. She lives with her handsome husband Tom and their equally attractive cat.
Melissa Whitney
Actor
Melissa joined NWCTC in 2006 after playing Vera Claythorne in And Then There Were None. Since that time, she has worked with NWCTC on a variety of productions and roles; her top favorites being Viola in Twelfth Night, Rosalind in As You Like It, and Lavinia in Titus Andronicus. She also teaches Special Education for the Beaverton School District. Through NWCTC, Melissa has been given the opportunity to grow as an artist, travel abroad, and make some very dear friends along the way.
